Moranville

In selective areas, exposed brick surfaces highlight the home’s original craftsmanship, seamlessly blending with new insertions. The flooring, largely preserved in its original wooden form, contributes to the warm, timeless atmosphere of the spaces. The material palette remains neutral and balanced—lime plaster walls, soft wood finishes, and muted tones create a serene, cohesive environment. Each intervention is minimal yet intentional, guided by the client’s lifestyle needs. Rather than imposing a new language, the refurbishment quietly enhances what already exists, ensuring the home’s historical narrative continues while accommodating contemporary comfort and functionality.

Located in the heart of Brussels, this 114-year-old residence is undergoing a thoughtful refurbishment that seeks to celebrate its historic character while adapting it to contemporary living. As our first international project, the design approach balances respect for heritage with the comfort and functionality required by modern lifestyles. The intent is to create a home that reflects its users authentically—one that feels both lived-in and enduring, while preserving the architectural essence of its time. The design strategy emphasizes restraint and purpose. Existing structural and aesthetic elements such as jack arches in the basement and load-bearing brick walls are retained and revealed, lending texture and honesty to the interiors.
