Set against the lush backdrop of Khopoli, Girish Abode is designed as a dwelling deeply rooted in the natural terrain. The house is carefully positioned within the contours of the land, allowing the existing levels to define zoning and the division of spaces. Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the architecture works with it, ensuring that built form and topography flow seamlessly together. The structure is organized into two distinct blocks. These are connected by a striking cantilevered staircase, whose balance is achieved through a massive 20-foot-high stone wall. This wall functions as both a counterweight and a grounding element, anchoring the house firmly into its setting. Circulation is envisioned through semi-open verandahs at the rear, blurring boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. These verandahs act as transitional zones that not only connect the blocks but also frame views of the surrounding landscape, making movement through the house feel like a continuous engagement with nature.
