Home at Boregaon
The spatial layout is organized along long verandas that run parallel to the tree line, enabling occupants to step outside easily and experience nature directly. These verandas act as transitional spaces, sheltered yet open, providing areas to sit, relax, and enjoy changing light and ambient sounds. Large window openings with corbelling projections extend outward, creating alcove-like seating zones that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, while framing views of the trees and river. The walls are constructed with 9-inch Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB), chosen for sustainability and thermal comfort, reducing energy dependence. All furniture, cabinetry, and doors are crafted in wood, adding warmth and harmonizing with the site’s natural palette. A cozy attic space with a dormer roof serves as a reading nook, offering intimate views of the towering almond trees. The Borgoan residence is more than a home; it is an immersive living experience, a dwelling where architecture and nature coexist in harmony, creating a life deeply connected to its surroundings.
Our design approach for the Borgoan residence is rooted in a strong commitment to creating architecture that integrates fully with its natural surroundings. Our team is driven by the passion of designing within the existing ecosystem, respecting its sensitivity and inherent qualities. This aligns seamlessly with the clients’ vision, a home that is not only functional but deeply connected to nature. As nature enthusiasts, they envisioned a residence that preserves the natural character of the site and enhances their daily engagement with the outdoors. The site is characterized by a dense canopy of tall almond trees and rich native vegetation, alongside the serene flow of a river stream running adjacent to the plot. These natural elements became the foundation for our design process. Rather than imposing on the landscape, we chose to work with it, allowing the site’s inherent features to define the home’s form and layout. This approach ensures minimal disruption to the environment while preserving its ecological integrity. The home’s form is conceived as a fluid structure that wraps gently around the existing trees, treating them as central spatial and experiential anchors. This wrapping form creates an organic dialogue between architecture and nature, seamlessly integrating built space with living landscape. Continuity between indoors and outdoors is prioritized, making nature an integral part of daily life.
